Harry Potter - And The Sorcerer's Stone
Hermione
Granger’s Wand

Creating Hermione Granger's Wand was not accomplished in my studio. It
was created at a friend's home as part of a group project along with other Wands.
To make Hermione Granger’s wand is fairly simple.
After I planned out how to make the wand I started recreating it by taking a
piece of 3/8” dowel rod and cutting it to 10 3/16” long. I then
tapered the dowel rod so the base was 3/8” and the tip was ¼”.
This is the shaft of the wand.
Then I took a piece of ½” dowel rod and cut a piece 2 ¾” long. This will become the handle of the wand. To finish the look of the handle I decorated it with a mushroom cap, donut shaped beads, and wooden spacers. One wooded spacer was just slightly smaller in diameter than the ½” dowel rod that I am using for the handle. So I had to taper the handle piece just a bit to make everything fit nicely.

Then I then stained
the handle of the wand light natural oak and the shaft of the wand walnut.
After the two stained parts of the wand were dry I glued the two parts together.
*I have been told that Hermione Granger has two different wands in the first
film. A production error I do not know.
To finish off the wand I sprayed a coat of Clear Satin on the wand to protect the finish.
Here is my recreation of Hermione
Granger’s Wand.
